Take a Hike & Support a National Park
There’s been a buzz around town and in national parks around
the country about the Parks Project,
founded by local Venetians Sevag Kazanci and Keith Eshelman who recognized that
the focus, funding, advocacy and support of National Parks was becoming a thing
of the past.
So they put their love of clothing (co-founder Sevag Kazanci
comes from a background of working with big brands like TOMS, Volcom and
O’Neill) and love of the great outdoors together to form the Parks Project.
With retailers like Urban Outfitters, Target and their e-commerce site, the Parks
Project showcases their park-inspired clothing and accessories with proceeds
going to an amazing cause.
A few of their current projects (out of 18!) include:
- 5 Everglades tees sold =
Removal of 2 non-native species affecting native wildlife
- 50 Yosemite tees sold = 50
meters of trail restoration
- 100 Santa Monica Mountains
tees sold = A busload of inner city kids visiting the park for the first time.
- 3,000 Smoky Mountain tees
sold = The care-taking of one bear from “rescue to release”
On top of their incredible e-commerce business, they also
form groups to go out and volunteer in the parks they support, which also
supports their two main mantras, “leave it better than you found it” and
“healthy parks make healthy people.”
We’re so grateful to have a generation that supports such
#radparks and strives to save the planet and the people that live and love it.
