Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts

Informally known as “The Wallis,” this Beverly Hills institution brings audiences world-class theater, dance and music. Its eclectic programming mirrors the diverse landscape of Los Angeles, while offering original and revered works from across the US and around the globe.

For the Record: Scorsese | through October 16 Celebrates legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese with a unique, genre-bending form of live entertainment turning the soundtracks of his movies into a thrilling immersive theatrical concert.

Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA

Creating opportunity for the presentation as well as the scholarship of performance art, the CAP helps bring forward creative dialogue between performers, students, and the public community at large.

Hollywood Bowl

It’s always a legendary evening at “The Bowl”—the largest natural outdoor amphitheater in the U.S. and a mecca for concerts, enjoy one last evening like it’s a cool summer night!

Danny Elfman | October 28–30 Enjoy Halloween at The Hollywood Bowl with Danny Elfman and “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” the newest annual L.A. tradition.

Hammer Museum

One of the most edgy museums in town is the Hammer Museum at UCLA. Focused on the promise of art and ideas to illuminate our lives and build a more just world, the Hammer always is a cultural gem of the Westside. There’s always something wonderful on view whether it be the European and American painting from the collection of Armand Hammer or contemporary exhibition.

THIS MONTH:

In Real Life: 100 Days of Film and Performance | Currently On View Two nights of acclaimed jazz musicians: this weekend is Steve Lehman Trio & David Binney Trio, then next weekend is a night of Extreme Bass.

The Broad

This new contemporary art museum founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad in downtown Los Angeles has made a world-class impact as the home to the more than 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection.

THIS MONTH:

Roski Talk: Julie Mehretu + Steven Nelson | October 13 Julie Mehretu is one of the most exciting painters working today and is known for pieces that use sweeping compositions and networked linear mark-making.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art

Informally known as “LACMA,” this museum collects works of art that span both history and geography, in addition to representing Los Angeles’s uniquely diverse population.

THIS MONTH:

Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters | Currently On View Taking inspiration from del Toro’s extraordinary imagination, the exhibition reveals his creative process through his collection of paintings, drawings, maquettes, artifacts, and concept film art.
