Annual Gala Honors Tami Halton Pardee
Local social service organization Harvest Home helps homeless pregnant women and their babies get off the streets. Harvest Home provides a structured program that helps each woman make changes within her life to attain independence and stability. All women enter the program while they are pregnant and stay for up to 6 months after the birth of their child. Harvest Home offers a nurturing, supportive environment providing housing along with case management, classes, and programs that equip women to become great mothers. At the same time, many of the women in the program are currently working or looking for work to care for their newly expanded family.
The Halton Pardee tagline is “Opening doors. Lifting hearts. Changing lives.”—this could also be said of Harvest Home. It is this aspect of being a life-changer that aligns most with Halton Pardee’s values and we are thrilled to announce a donation of $50,000!
This donation was announced on Sunday, 2 October at the annual Harvest Home gala, where they honored the community work of our company’s founder/CEO Tami Halton Pardee. This local charity has special meaning for Tami as she shared with the audience a humorous retelling of a valuable lesson she learned at age 12: Tami helped a pregnant homeless girl get the bus money to an aunt’s home. Two years later, a letter arrived from the girl thanking Tami for changing her life for the better. And was the beginning of Tami’s road on recognizing how much power we each have to help change lives.
This special gala evening will stay with us and be our reminder of how we can all be life-changers.
