Hidden Gems In Ocean Park

Get to Know Your New Go-To Places

Our top picks for where to shop and eat on Ocean Park are within a two-block radius of each other, so you can make a whole day of it!

  1. Best Burger (with Vegan options!) – Shaka Shack is an Ocean Park staple. “’Shaka’ is a sign used by Hawaiian locals to convey the ‘aloha spirit’; it’s a gesture of friendship and understanding between cultures.” When you walk into Shaka Shack, you are automatically taken into a time capsule to the 1960’s, reminiscent of a local surf shack and “burger paradise”. We recommend all of the burgers, not one is better than the other, however, our favorite (we order it on a weekly basis) is the Chick Burger – trust us on this one.
  2. Best Threads – Brooke Rodd is a clothing boutique that offers a curated plethora of clothing and accessories that is ever changing and always affordable. The boutique does not carry any back stock of their products, so if you see it and love it, you better buy it, because there won’t be another one coming. This creates a fun and exciting new way to shop, knowing that you are one of the few that have that piece. What’s more is Brooke Rodd offers their own original dresses made from local artisans in Downtown LA from fabrics leftover from global fashion brands that would otherwise go into a landfill. One-of-a-kind pieces and environmentally friendly? Yes please.
  3. Best Happy Hour + Bites – Local Kitchen and Wine Bar is operated by the same owners of everyone’s beloved Thyme Café & Market, and offers the best craft cocktails any time, but go from 3-5pm any day of the week for their happy hour and that cocktail will taste that much better. Their wood-fired brick oven pizza will have your mouth watering, but at least you’ll have a fresh cocktail to wash it down.
